The Blue Planet Effect has been a remarkable one, and it has been great to see that more and more people are becoming aware of the plastic problem that faces our world. The amount of (often unrecyclable) packaging on virtually every item is overwhelmingly depressing, and in complete contrast to the type of conscious living we wanted for my family. If only our way of living could become more zero waste. And so the idea of Zero was born. A shop that can dispense ordinary everyday grocery items to you in whatever containers you happen to have. Zero plastic, zero waste. Zero.
My name is Charlie- and this is Zero Store.
Meeting in the park with friends in 2018, Charlie talked about dreams for a place where she could do a food shop without all the excessive packaging; in fact, without any packaging at all. It wasn’t long before she decided to be part of the movement for change and get this message out to the local area. After working on many mobile events, Charlie opened a popular, well-stocked shop in Leamington Spa, with an efficient (and fun!) self serve scales system. Having successfully navigated the store through a global pandemic, a second store is planned to open in Stratford-Upon-Avon town centre in late 2021. Alongside the main stores, there are several concessions and click and collect locations across Warwickshire.
The aim: to provide a much needed service to anyone who might want to try and make a lifestyle change for lower impact, cleaner living – with a focus on locally sourced products and zero waste supply.
